                 Constitutional Amendments Chapter 7.1           2007apr14
This chapter continues the process initiated in 2006 of “cleaning up” the document adopted at the end of 2005
6.1.4       “active” to be replaced by “paid-up” and the following to be added:
In any given year prior to the end of February an individual is regarded as paid-up if his or her Chessa registration fee was paid for the previous year. From March 1st the individual must be paid for the current year. Council will determine from time to time the number of paid-up members required for a Union to enjoy full Union rights; and which rights are lost if at any given time the Union does not have the required number of members.
Add also the following:
The region of the chess union is the geographical region in which the Union operates.

6       CHESSA MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES
The provisions of the following clauses are not necessarily exhaustive and further relevant clauses may be found in other parts of this constitution
6.1  PROVINCIAL CHESS BODIES
             Insert here the existing 7.1.2
       Amend the existing clause to read     ….. consisting of representatives of each of the Unions within the province (or the only Union if there is only one) as well as any province-wide chess bodies such as arbiter associations, trainer association, league committees, development committees etc associated with each other for the specific purpose of liaison …..
6.2  REGIONAL CHESS BODIES (UNIONS)
            Insert here 6.1 ….. 6.7    as 6.2.1 …… 6.2.7
6.3  ASSOCIATED CHESS BODIES
Insert here 7.1.1 as 6.3.1        7.2 as 6.3.2      7.3 as 6.3.3   Amend the last to refer to Articles 6.2.1 – 6.2.7 in its text
6.4  INDIVIDUAL MEMBERS
Insert here 8.1,   8.2,   8.3     as     6.4.1,    6.4.2,     6.4.3 and add
6.4.4       An individual shall indicate on his or her annual registration form the Union with which he or she wishes to be affiliated. In the absence of such indication Chessa shall have the right to assign the affiliation on the basis of any of: previous affiliation, residential address, employment address, club membership; or leave it blank.
6.5         HONORARY INDIVIDUAL MEMBERSHIP
This may be bestowed by Chessa from time to time as it sees fit. The category provides for the possibility of affording individuals who reside and/or play in other countries, and to whom Chessa is beholden in some way, appropriate recognition.

Should these amendments be adopted the subsequent clauses may be re-numbered or new clauses inserted in place of 7 & 8 or 7 & 8 may be left empty for the time being.
